Weatherview Chapter 25

The sky was exceptionally clear and the sun bright and determined, as if it were trying to push back boundaries and warm people’s souls.  Early morning traffic rolled along the highways, expanding and contracting like waves of water surging through a flooding river.  A living city on the move to work or school, their hearts true, their goal the future.

While the miracles of Weatherview had brought about repentance, they had not induced the stinging bitterness of regret.  The residents were free from the past.  No more pangs of broken memories trying to persuade them that they’d somehow messed everything up, that they’d tipped the scale of their lives toward sin and wrongdoing, that falling short of the glory of God meant a prison sentence and ruined life.  They had discovered that life could not be ruined.  Impossible, so powerful was love to heal and transform, to take what was crashing and make it soar.  God had smiled upon Weatherview at the end of the age, and the city was forever changed by the immeasurable greatness of heaven.

Without warning the blue dome of sky opened up above the city to reveal other shining cities.  New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Dallas, St. Louis…  All the cities of the United States and beyond shone gloriously alongside Weatherview, and all felt the warm love of a God who was pleased with what He’d created and given everything to save and cherish forever and ever.

Christmas came and went, then the Spring.  Stephen’s festival was a success, an honor for God and the city.  The families all prepared and stayed ready to meet Jesus Christ, continuing to repent and stay aware of God’s presence.  The miracles continued for Ethan and Linda.  Elliott wrote and produced his album and released it for his eager fans in high schools across the region.  Many dreams came true and new dreams were imagined.

Casey walked in the house carrying an armful of flowers for his mom.

“Thank you, sweetheart.  What are these for?”

“The best mother in the world.”
